Hello, all! Thank you, kids, for all your hard work, patience and enthusiasm. Thank you, parents, for your support. We have some requests to make. Our budget is currently such that purchasing the remainder of the props we need would be ludicrous. The following are the things we'd like to borrow from parents or family of kids in the show.

Low, lightweight wooden table (nightstand, coffee table, etc) with four wooden posts
Two small wooden chairs
Fake plants--potted ferns, ficus trees, small bushes, etc

If you are able to donate something for the dress rehearsals and performance, please contact one of the directors asap. Thanks again!

Well, I think its safe to say that the auditions went very, very well on Saturday, and I just want to thank all the kids who auditioned and their parents for their support. We tried to call everyone last night, but not everyone answered so just as a reminder; the first rehearsal is THIS MONDAY, the 12th. Auditions!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to remind you that auditions are swiftly approaching and I also have some changes to make to the time and place. The auditions are actually going to be held at Kristen's house (1204 Locust Lane). The ensemble auditions will be held at 9:00 am and the lead auditions will be at 1:00 pm. Please try to be on time. If being on time for the auditions will be a problem for you, please contact Miriam, Kristen or me so we are aware of any potential latecomers.

The kids do not have to prepare anything for the auditions. For the ensemble auditions, the kids will be auditioning in small groups. For the lead auditions, kids will audition alone in front of Kristen, Miriam, and me.

I have already posted the list of characters in the play and starred the ones that are main parts, but I failed to mention the approximate ages we are looking at for each character. The Muses/ Teachers will most likely be older girls (11-13) who can sing, dance, and act. All the family members must be able to sing, dance, and act as well. Alec can be anywhere from 8 to 13 as long as he looks a little younger than his parents. Alec must be able, at least, to sing and act. All the kids in the family can be anywhere from 6 to 13 as long as they look younger than their parents and are able to take direction from Kristen, Miriam, and me. Aesop, Altair, Abraxus (the father), and Aspasia (the mother) will be older kids (11-13).

Chances are that we probably won't give main parts to very young kids because younger kids are usually a little on the hyper side and we would rather have older, calmer kids in the main roles. Remember: there are no small parts, only small actors. :)

"Never Cry Wolf"

ATTENTION ALL OAK HILLS CHILD SINGERS, DANCERS, AND ACTORS!

NEVER CRY WOLF
is a musical play based off of Aesop's fable of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf."
In July, Miriam, Kristen, and I will embark on a mission to put on this show in our neighborhood.
The musical will be open to all kids between the ages 6 to 13, and will last for three weeks (July 12 - 31).

The cost for the musical will be $15 per child (1-2 children per family) $10 per child (3+ children per family) who will be participating in the musical. This fee will be covering the costs for paint and costumes, which we will be providing. All fees will be due by the first day of rehearsal.

We will also require a signed hold harmless agreement and behavior contract for each child who joins the cast, both of which we will provide.

AUDITIONS will be held at my house on the Saturday 10th of July.
Ensemble auditions - 9:00 am Children not wishing to try out by themselves for singing, dancing and speaking should come at this time.

Main Character Auditions -The main parts audition is for kids who aspire to be Broadway stars... or for those just enjoy playing main roles.

ALL KIDS WHO COME WILL BE CAST!

There are speaking parts and feature parts for each cast member. We will post the cast list on this blog and will call each cast member individually to tell them which part they will be playing before the first rehearsal. SEE BLOG FOR SYNOPSIS AND DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTERS.

REHEARSALS -Each day Monday through Friday, 10 to 12:00 noon at my house.

There will be three different "stations" at the rehearsal; one for choreography, one for stage blocking, and one for singing. As the play takes shape, all cast members will be called more often. The schedule for rehearsals will also be posted on this blog and hard copies will be handed out at the first rehearsal.

PERFORMANCES Saturday, July 31st at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm with a short cast party (every family bring some treats to share) following the evening show. Although we will set up as many chairs as we can, we will appreciate the audience to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on the grass and enjoy the show.

If rain is anticipated on Saturday, we will reschedule for Friday July 30th at 7:00 pm.
